If the trip is planned for the colder seasons, it is recommended to have heavier clothing with woollen hat and gloves. Keep also in mind that in the high mountains it can be cold even in summer and sudden changes in weather conditions are possible.

Departure from Cortina d'Ampezzo towards Falzarego Pass (2,117 m / 6,946 ft), leaving the splendid Ampezzo Valley. Stopping at the Falzarego Pass is a must; it was the theatre of bloody battles during the First World War, and its trenches are a splendid testimony of this.

You go on towards the famous Pordoi Pass 2,239 m / 7,346 ft), the destination of historic cycling feats of champions such as Fausto Coppi (one of his monuments was erected right on the pass).
These bends offer a spectacle of imposing and austere beauty. At the Pordoi Pass you will also have the opportunity to go up by cable car to Sass Pordoi (2,950 m - 9,678 ft). Lunch break.

Once you have gone down into the Fassa Valley and passed Canazei, you cross the valley, leaving it finally to go up towards the Costalunga Pass (1,753 m / 5,751 ft). Near the pass there will be a photo stop to contemplate the majesty of the Catinaccio. After a few minutes, you arrive at the beautiful Lake Carezza, where you can admire the different variations of green and turquoise colors of this alpine lake filled by the rains and snows of the Latemar. This massif is reflected in the surface of the lake, creating a fairytale atmosphere. The walk along the path that surrounds the lake is recommended.

The journey ends by descending the narrow Ega Valley, which was the first stretch of road built at the end of the 19th century, to connect Bolzano to Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Note: The program may change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as weather conditions, festive or seasonal closures of roads, museums, cable cars etc. In these cases, alternative solutions will be provided.
