Itinerary
Departure from Bolzano towards Funes Valley. The village of Santa Maddalena deserves two stops to take memorable photos that have become known all over the world: the first next to a small church, erected in a meadow; the second on the other side of the village, after a short climb.
The two images have a common background: the Odle Group with its extraordinary natural stage.
Next stop is Erbe Pass (1,987 m / 6,519 ft), located between the jagged rocks of Sass de Putia and
the beautiful pastures of Luson. Beyond the pass, the splendid Badia Valley, in the heart of the Dolomites, a Ladin basin dominated by the giants of the Dolomites. After a short photo stop in
La Villa, a village set in a sunny basin, stopping along the Valparola Pass (2,168 m / 7,113 ft) first, and then at the Falzarego Pass (2,117 m / 6,946 ft), is a must. The first is definitely a magical place with the road wedged between large dolomite rocks, while the second is particularly well known as it was the scene of bloody battles during the First World War, and its trenches are a splendid testimony of this.
At Falzarego there is the possibility to go up with the cable car to the top of the Lagazuoi (2,835 m / 9,301 ft) and take a nice walk at high altitude. After lunch, you descend the valley; before arriving in Cortina d’Ampezzo there will be a last photo stop in view of this town located in a splendid setting.
Note: The program may change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as weather conditions, festive or seasonal closures of roads, museums, cable cars etc. In these cases, alternative solutions will be provided.
