Day 4: Crossing of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park - 2nd day
Waking up in a mountain hut and having breakfast with a view of the mountains brings immediate joy. Today you walk from hut to hut in the heart of the park. It starts with slight ups and downs between meadows and mountain pines. The path descends steeply in the valley for a few hundred meters and then climbs up on the opposite side. The ascent is a bit tiring but the mountain landscape that appears to you is probably the most beautiful you have ever seen.
The Ladins call it the Valun de Fanes, a valley located at just over 2,000 m / 6,561 ft, with animals grazing on green meadows, a small lake in the center and streams that flow from the slopes of the mountains that surround the valley. You arrive at a lovely mountain hut, passing alongside the Lago Verde (Green Lake) and the Parliament of the Marmots, a gigantic natural amphitheater of dolomite rock.
Once at the mountain hut, where you will spend the night, if you are not tired it is possible to make a further circular excursion of about 2,5 hours, to discover new angles glimpses of this wonderful panorama. Overnight in a mountain hut.
