Itinerary
Departure and arrival: Bolzano (Transfer on request)
Day 1: Arrival in Bolzano
Independent arrival in Bolzano, a city considered the “Gateway of the Dolomites”; hotel accommodation. If you arrive early, Bolzano offers many possibilities to spend a few free hours.
For example, a walk in the historic center or the ascent to the Renon plateau with the cable car. Overnight at a hotel in Bolzano.
Meals included: None
Day 2: Trekking on the Alpe di Siusi
Meeting at the hotel with the tour guide. Today's appointment is with the Alpe di Siusi: the largest grassy plateau in the Alps (52 square kilometers / 20 square miles). From the top of the Mont Seuc (1,700 m / 5,577 ft) there is a magnificent view with Ortisei at the bottom of the valley, but the panorama is wonderful from the whole of the Alpe di Siusi; you can enjoy a good view of the massif of the Sciliar, the Sassolungo and the Sasso Piatto.
The walk begins along the paths that cross the meadows and woods of the Alpe. Stop for lunch in a mountain hut to taste traditional farmer dishes. In the afternoon return to Mont Seuc and descent to Ortisei. You continue by car to the Gardena Pass (2,136 m / 7,008 ft) and arrive at the hotel in Badia Valley. Departure towards Pederu. After a somewhat tiring climb, the alpine landscape that appears is probably the most beautiful you have ever seen. The Valun de Fanes is a valley located at just 2,000 m / 6,562 ft, with animals grazing on green meadows, a small lake in the center and streams that flow from the slopes of the mountains that surround the valley.
You continue passing alongside Lago Verde (Green Lake), the Parliament of the Marmots, a gigantic natural amphitheater of dolomite rock and, further on, Lake Limo (2,160 m / 7,086 ft); the whole Valun is the setting for numerous Ladin legends. Packed lunch along the way.
The walk continues amidst the whistles of marmots that you can easily see along the path. The descent, gentle at first and then increasingly steep, will take you to Capanna Alpina (1,720 m / 5,643 ft), the mountain hut that marks the end of this beautiful route. Overnight at a hotel in Badia Valley
Meals included: Breakfast, Packed Lunch and Dinner
