You say goodbye to the Badia Valley (at the end of the day you will spend the night in Cortina d’Ampezzo) and leave for Giau Pass (2,236 m / 7,336 ft). At the pass the view is spectacular but this is only the beginning. The walk to the Croda da Lago starts with a very scenic path. You will have to cross 4 passes, fortunately not too high, but every effort is rewarded by ever-changing panoramas. After the last saddle, the view opens onto the Ampezzo valley, with Cortina at the bottom of the valley and the fantastic view of the Pelmo and the Civetta. Going down the path you will reach Lake Federa with the Rifugio Palmieri (2,046 m / 6,713 ft). Lunch in a mountain hut admiring the Bec di Mezdì, which stands out against the blue sky.
You set out again and go down into the valley and at each bend a new panorama opens up, this time on the Cinque Torri (Five Towers), the Lagazuoi and the Tofane.
