Clothing and Equipment
Light equipment: the minimum necessary or useful for a walk or a trip in the mountains: a pullover or anorak, comfortable shoes (sneakers or trekking), hat and sunglasses. If the trip is planned for the colder seasons, it is recommended to have heavier clothing with woollen hat and gloves. Keep also in mind that in the high mountains it can be cold even in summer and sudden changes in weather conditions are possible.

Itinerary
Departure and arrival: Merano (Transfer on request)
Day 1: Arrival in Merano
Independent arrival in Merano, a city renowned for its thermal baths. Hotel accommodation. Merano offers many possibilities to spend half a day or just a few free hours. It is a city with a refined and welcoming atmosphere, characterized by its medieval arcades and elegant Art Nouveau buildings. Overnight at a hotel in Merano.

Day 2: Visit to Castle Tyrol and the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle
Meeting at the hotel with the tour guide. Departure for Castle Tyrol. Arrive in Tirolo village, then, with a walk of about 40 minutes you get to the historic castle, formerly the residence of the counts of Tirolo, where you can enjoy a glimpse from above of the Adige Valley. After the visit to the Castle Tyrol, you move to the Gardens of Trautmannsdorf Castle, which extend over an area of about 12 hectares and where plants from all over the world flourish. At the center of the gardens there is a restaurant and a cafeteria where you can have food and drinks in front of the panorama and the romantic Water Lily Pond. After the lunch break, return to Merano by public transport. Overnight at a hotel in Merano.

Duration of the walk to Castle Tyrol: approx. 40 min; elevation: ↑↓ 80 m / 262 ft; length: 2,5 km / 1,5 miles
Day 3: The Venosta Valley: Lake Resia, Coira Castle and Glorenza
Departure by car towards Venosta Valley. At the bottom of the valley, just before the border with Austria, we find Lake Resia, renowned for its bell tower that rises from the water. The lake is located at the beginning of the Vallelunga, one of the wildest and most unspoiled valleys of the Alps. We return a few dozen kilometers to visit Coira Castle, a splendid medieval castle, with Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements and which contains the largest private armory in Europe. Visit to the little town of Glorenza, a jewel of late medieval architecture; lunch break in a popular restaurant in the town. Along the way back to Merano stop at Naturno, to visit the little church of San Procolo, historical heritage of the pre-Romanesque period. Overnight at a hotel in Merano.

Day 4: Discovering the Senales Valley, where Ötzi was found
Today an excursion is planned in Senales Valley, not far from the discovery site of Ötzi, the man who came from the ice and who lived 5300 years ago.
The first appointment is a visit to a historic farm dating back to 700 years ago (placed under the protection of the Fine Arts), where you can see closely the life of mountain farmers and taste their products. Transfer to Maso Corto; ascent by cable car to reach the Iceman Ötzi Peak (3,251m / 10,666 ft) and enjoy a panorama from the top that includes the Giogo Alto glacier, the Austrian Alps and the Ortles Group. After the descent into the valley and lunch at a hut, visit the Archeo Parc: the park-museum tries to re-propose, with its permanent exhibitions and the outdoor area with the reconstructions of Neolithic houses, a part of prehistoric life and tries also to understand where and how Ötzi lived. At the end of the excursion, return to Merano. Overnight at a hotel in Merano.

Cancellation requests must be sent by post, fax or e-mail and are subject to the following penalties:
