Itinerary

Meeting with the guide and departure; after a short photo stop at the beautiful and renowned Lake Misurina, you head to the Rifugio Auronzo (2,320 m / 7,612 ft), at the foot of the majestic Three Peaks of Lavaredo (Tre Cime), which always leave you breathless.

From here your excursion starts; a walk of about an hour that will lead you to the start of the via ferrata. Once you have put on your equipment (harness, helmet, via ferrata set) you proceed, always accompanied by your mountain guide, along scree, ledges and tunnels, from which you will enjoy breathtaking views. The old war tunnels were the scenes of violent battles during the First World War. This path was built so high in order to have a strategic position to dominate the whole valley and to guarantee supplies to the soldiers. The via Ferrata is named after the mountain guide Sepp Innerkofler and the alpine soldier Pietro De Luca who fought on opposite sides, for the conquest of the summit.

Your excursion continues and the effort of the climb is rewarded by the satisfaction of reaching the top of Monte Paterno at 2,744 m / 9,003 ft. The panorama is fantastic: you are in the center of the Dolomites with a 360° view. Having a packed lunch with this sight is a priceless experience.

After the break, there is a descent towards the rifugio Locatelli (2,405 m / 7,890 ft), perhaps the most famous of all the Dolomites, a short stop for a drink or a coffee then you continue along the Paterno towards the south, towards the Forcella Lavaredo (2,454 m / 8,051 ft). At the pass a last look at the view and then you descend towards the rifugio Lavaredo and then the rifugio Auronzo where you take the car back to Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Note: The program may change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as weather conditions, festive or seasonal closures of roads, museums, cable cars etc. In these cases, alternative solutions will be provided.
