Itinerary
Departure from Bolzano towards Lake Carezza. After a stop where you can admire the different variations of turquoise green colors of the lake, filled by the rains and snows of the Latemar, you go along the Costalunga Pass (1,753 m / 5,751 ft) from where you can contemplate the majesty of the Catinaccio.
You continue towards the Fassa Valley and go up the bends of the Sella Pass (2,218 m / 7,277 ft), surrounded by the splendid Dolomite peaks. Once you have crossed the pass, you go down a few bends and then go up towards the Gardena Pass (2,136 m / 7,008 ft), a popular destination for sportsmen and one of the historic Dolomite passes of the Giro d'Italia. Beyond the Pass lies the splendid Badia Valley, in the heart of the Dolomites, a Ladin basin kissed by the sun and dominated by rocky giants.
After passing Corvara, located on a sunny plain at the foot of Mount Sassongher, and La Villa, stopping along the Valparola Pass (2,168 m / 7,113 ft) and at the Falzarego Pass (2,117 m / 6,946 ft) is a must; the latter, in particular, was scene of bloody battles during the First World War, and its trenches are a splendid testimony of that. If you want, you can go up with the cable car to the top of the Lagazuoi (2,835 m / 9,301 ft) and take a walk at high altitude.
The first stop after lunch is Cortina d'Ampezzo, also known as the "Pearl of the Dolomites"; there you can take a pleasant walk along its shopping street. Leaving you skirt two famous lakes, Misurina, in the background of which are the imposing Three Peaks of Lavaredo, and Dobbiaco right at the beginning of the Alemagna state road. Once you have passed the Pusteria Valley and the Isarco Valley and left Brunico and Bressanone behind, your personal tour ends in Bolzano.
Note: The program may change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as weather conditions, festive or seasonal closures of roads, museums, cable cars etc. In these cases, alternative solutions will be provided.
