Itinerary
Taking the exit from Bolzano, you can already see along the Ega Valley the grandeur of the Dolomite massifs of the Catinaccio and Latemar. Stop on the shores of Lake Carezza to admire the different shades of green and turquoise of this alpine lake. As you arrive at the Costalunga Pass (1,753 m / 5,751 ft), you can contemplate all the majesty of the Catinaccio, famous for the legend of King Laurin, and characterized by the enrosadira, a typical phenomenon of the Dolomites.
After Canazei, a famous tourist resort in the Fassa Valley, your excursion to the mountain hut Viel del Pan at 2,432 m / 7,979 ft begins from the top station of the Pecol cable car. This is certainly one of the best panoramic points to admire the Queen of the Dolomites, the Marmolada and, at its feet, Lake Fedaia. After lunch, descend until you cross the hairpin bends of the Sella Pass (2,218 m / 7,277 ft), which offers you a spectacle of impressive and austere beauty with the Sella massif on one side and the Sassolungo Group on the other.
From the Sella Pass you descend into Gardena Valley and pass through the villages of Selva, Santa Cristina and Ortisei. At Ortisei you will have free time for a walk and to buy some objects or works of art in wood from a long and recognised tradition.
Note: The program may change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as weather conditions, festive or seasonal closures of roads, museums, cable cars etc. In these cases, alternative solutions will be provided.
