Itinerary
Departure by car from your hotel in Bolzano towards San Genesio (approx. 1,000 m / 3281 ft).
The panoramic road offers several glimpses of the city and the Adige plain. As you go up the landscape becomes more alpine with meadows dotted with characteristic South Tyrolean farms. After crossing the village of San Genesio, you enter a forest of fir and then of larch trees.
A carriage with a pair of Haflinger horses awaits you at the riding school. Haflingers are a very docile horse breed, with a long and thick blond mane. In the past they were used as packhorses or transport due to their endurance. Today the Haflinger is bred as a horse for leisure and for exhibitions.
Our friendly driver will take you along the narrow streets of the plateau, showing you the mountains you will see all around: the Dolomites (UNESCO World Heritage) to the east , the Mendola and the Ortles to the west and the Adige valley to the south.
At lunch, scheduled in a pleasant mountain hut, our guide will help you choose among the typical dishes of South Tyrolean cuisine: Knödel (dumplings), Spätzle (spinach gnocchi), Schlutzkrapfen (ravioli with spinach and ricotta filling), Wienerschnitzel (fried veal/pork cutlets), Gröstl (roast meat with potates), Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake),… names that are difficult to pronounce but very good dishes to complete this beautiful experience.
Note: The program may change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as weather conditions, festive or seasonal closures of roads, museums, cable cars etc. In these cases, alternative solutions will be provided.
