Itinerary

The Ega Valley begins just outside Bolzano. Along the valley you can see the grandeur of the Catinaccio and the Latemar massif; two mountain groups that testify the geological evolution of the Dolomites over hundreds of millions of years.
The first stop is at Lake Carezza (1,520 m / 4,986 ft); you can walk the easy path that goes around it or simply admire the different variations of green and turquoise colors of this alpine lake at the foot of the Latermar. Photo stop near the Costalunga Pass (1,753 m / 5,751 ft).

The next stage is the Pordoi Pass (2,239 m / 7,345 ft), the destination of historic cycling feats of champions such as Fausto Coppi (one of his monuments was erected right on the pass). At the Pass you will also have the opportunity to go up by cable car (at your discretion) to Sass Pordoi (2,950 m / 9,679 ft), where you can admire the Dolomites at 360°, including the Marmolada: the Queen of the Dolomites. Free lunch in a typical restaurant.

Arriving at the Sella Pass (2,218 m / 7,277 ft), you will find yourself surrounded by extraordinary scenery with the Sella massif on one side and the Sassolungo group on the other. Here begins the Gardena Valley with the characteristic South Tyrolean villages of Selva, Santa Cristina and Ortisei. In this latter village you can stop for a walk in the centre and buy some wooden works or objects of which the area boasts a long and recognized tradition. An excellent conclusion to a splendid day before returning to Bolzano.

Note: The program may change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as weather conditions, festive or seasonal closures of roads, museums, cable cars etc. In these cases, alternative solutions will be provided.
