Leaving from and arriving at: Bolzano
Day 1: Participants arrive and settle into a hotel in Bolzano previously booked for you by Oiden Tour. The city is also known as “The gateway to the Dolomites” (see: How to get here). Free time could be spent checking out Bolzano, which has plenty to offer.
Day 2: Meet with tour conductor at hotel. We leave Bolzano and in half an hour arrive in Merano. Guided tour of the town; the tree-lined avenues and the ‘belle epoque’ atmosphere of this elegant town are sure to make you feel at home. When we visit the gardens of Trauttmansdorff castle in the afternoon we will see just why this town has consistently been a favourite holiday destination of kings and emperors throughout the years. Mild climate and excellent infrastructure. Overnight stay in the area.
Day 3: We arrive in Appiano on the South Tyrol Wine Road. The castles of Korb, Boymont and Appiano are all within a short distance of each other and we will go on a walk back through time which takes in all three. At Castel Appiano we have the opportunity to have lunch in a fabulous setting. The afternoon continues along medieval lines with a visit to Castel Rametz, which also houses a well known wine museum. Its well-stocked cellars will give us the chance to taste some of its quality products.
Day 4: takes us to the village of Tirolo/Tirol. An easy walk will take us to Castel Tirolo, the former manorhouse of the counts of South Tyrol. It’s worth taking a look at the bird sanctuary near the castle, which takes care of vulnerable birds and birds of prey. We will have lunch at ‘Schloss’ Tirol restaurant. In the afternoon we will see another manorhouse, Fragsburg: besides being interesting from a historical point of view, it is near a waterfall that is well worth a visit.
Day 5: Depart after breakfast. Private transfer is available to the next destination.
Note: The programme may be change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as the weather conditions, festive or seasonal closures of roads, museums, cable car etc. In these cases, alternative solutions will be provided.
