Day 1: Participants arrive and settle into a hotel in Bolzano previously booked for you by Oiden Tour. The city is also known as “The gateway to the Dolomites” (see: How to get here). Free time could be spent checking out Bolzano, which has plenty to offer.

Day 2: Meet with tour conductor at hotel. After a stop at the shores of the unforgettable lake at Carezza, we will reach Fronza refuge (2,337m) taking the chair lift leaving from Malga Frommer mountain pasture. The route to Roda di Vael refuge (where we stop for lunch) affords splendid views of the surrounding mountains, the Marmolada, Monzoni, Lagorai and Latemar ranges. Lunch is in a characteristic local restaurant. We will spend the night at Canazei, in Val di Fassa, one of the four most famous areas in the Dolomites.

Day 3: We will stay in Val di Fassa for the morning, going up to Ciampac refuge (2,147m), where we will have the chance to take a 3-hour walk around the rocky massif. After a break for lunch we will transfer to the lake at Fedaia at the foot of the Marmolada mountain, where there is a fabulous view of the glacier. We will then carry on to Serrai di Sottoguda gorge and in the late afternoon will arrive at our destination for the night, Val Badia, by means of scenic roads.

Day 4: After all these mountains a bit of culture and relaxation is called for on the third day. A visit to the Museum of Ethnography at Teodone/Dietenheim will acquaint you with many aspects of farm life that play a significant role in today’s economy. The lively town of Brunico displays many interesting aspects of Tyrolean culture and architecture, which you can see in the buildings of the old town. Lunch will be in a restaurant in the valley before pushing on to the shores of the tranquil Lago di Braies in the afternoon. Overnight stay in Alta Badia.

Day 5:
A ‘classic’ of the Dolomites. The Tre Cime (‘Three Peaks’) of Lavaredo. After a stop at the lake at Misurina, we will be able to admire the Tre Cime on our way to Lavaredo refuge (2,344m). A non-strenuous walk of around 2 hours will take us back to Auronzo refuge, which is a good place to have lunch. In the afternoon a visit to Cortina d’Ampezzo, the ‘queen of the Dolomites’ and one of the most popular Dolomite destinations, nestling in a spectacular and sunny valley basin, is an absolute must. Return to Val Badia.

Day 6:
We descend the pass at Gardena again to Colfosco. A walk of around 2 hours affords us amazing views of the Sella and Conturines groups. Mid-morning, we press on to Ortisei, the main village and very popular heart of Val Gardena. It is a much visited tourist destination both in summer and winter, and is also well known for its quality wood carvings. We will take a break for lunch at Castelrotto on the Schlern/Sciliar plateau and will fit in a guided tour of Castel Presule, guardian of legends and witches’ secrets, in the early afternoon.

Day 7: Depart after breakfast. Private transfer is available to the next destination.
