Leaving from and arriving at: Bolzano
Day 1: Participants arrive and settle into a hotel in Bolzano previously booked for you by Oiden Tour. The city is also known as “The gateway to the Dolomites” (see: How to get here). Free time could be spent checking out Bolzano, which has plenty to offer.
Day 2: Meet with tour conductor at hotel. From Bolzano, following the Adige Valley and the lower Venosta Valley, we reach Senales Valley. We propose a walk to the traditional farm buildings around Lake Vernago, with lunch in a historic farmhouse in the area. In the afternoon we will transfer to Madonna di Senales, the main village of the valley, where we will stay overnight.
Day 3: Today we will be following in the steps of the Ice Man (Ötzi) as far as the Similaun glacier. From Maso Corto we will take the cable car to Hotel Grauwand at an altitude of 3,212 m. In about 4 hours, crossing the Giogo Alto glacier (Hochjochferner), we will reach the site where the famous mummy was found, then we will arrive at the Similaun mountain hut for lunch. In this splendid setting we will be able to go for a short walk in the afternoon and stay overnight.
Day 4: Waking up at an altitude of 3,019 m is a unique experience: pure nature. After admiring the sunrise we will take our time to descend to Vernago without using the cable car. We will have a break for lunch then spend part of the afternoon at the “Archeo Parc”, a modern, interactive museum, which will reveal all the secrets about the discovery of Ötzi. For us, having seen the site the previous day, it will be even more interesting. In the afternoon we will return to Bolzano.
Day 5: Depart after breakfast. Private transfer is available to the next destination.
Note: The programme may be change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as the weather conditions, festive or seasonal closures of roads, museums, cable car etc. In these cases, alternative solutions will be provided.
