DISCOVERING THE DOLOMITES

 

Lake Carezza with a backdrop of Latemar. The grandiose peaks of the Sella mountain range. Lake Misurina, Cortina d’Ampezzo and the three peaks of Lavaredo. The magic of the Badia Valley. The Gardena Valley and the Scilliar plateau. A tour of the most famous and spectacular locations in the Dolomites with a taste of history and culture.

Leaving from and arriving at: Bolzano

Day 1: Participants arrive and settle into a hotel in Bolzano previously booked for you by Oiden Tour. The city is also known as “The gateway to the Dolomites” (see: How to get here). Free time could be spent checking out Bolzano, which has plenty to offer.

Day 2: Meet with tour conductor at hotel. From Bolzano its off to Lake Carezza. From the Frommer Alm, with the help of the chair lift we will go up to the Fronza Hut (2,337 m) where our excursion will begin beneath the rocky walls of the Catinaccio. Once back in the valley we will have lunch in a typical restaurant. In the late afternoon, after travelling through the magnificent Sella Pass (2,240 m) we will get to the Badia Valley where we will stay for the night.

Day 3: After a stop-off at the crystal clear waters of Lake Misurina, we will walk to the three peaks of Lavaredo. From here we will reach the Forcella of Lavaredo (2,454 m) without any difficult, within view of the spectacular three peaks. On our way back we stop off for lunch in the Auronzo Hut. A bit of relaxation in the afternoon in Cortina d’Ampezzo before heading back for the Badia Valley in the afternoon.

Day 4: We go up the Gardena Pass  (2,121 m) by car. From here, an easy 2 hour walk will bring us back to Colfosco in the Badia Valley allowing us to admire the peaks of the Sella mountain range. In the late morning we will leave for Castelrotto, in the plateau of the Sciliar, after having stopped for an hour or so in Ortisei, a pearl of the Gardena Valley. After lunch, we have the opportunity to have a guided visit of the Presule castle and then back to Bolzano.

Day 5: Depart after breakfast. Private transfer is available to the next destination.

Note: The programme may be change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as the weather conditions, festive or seasonal closures of roads, museums, cable car etc. In these cases, alternative solutions will be provided.
